New Showbiz Analysis

Raphaël Nadjari’s drama transitions from a domestic fraternal setting into a gritty exploration of the urban underworld. The film deconstructs traditional familial stability by forcing the protagonist into underrepresented social sectors. While the film lacks overt multi-layered casting or explicit LGBTQ+ themes, it finds progressive value in its narrative structure. It avoids idealized melodrama, opting instead for a morally relativistic view of grief and loss. Ultimately, the film functions as a character-driven study of social navigation. It uses the character of Jill to bridge the gap between the working class and the social periphery.
