By centering a same-sex relationship as the core of the domestic drama, the film challenges the assumption that everyone is straight or cisgender. It uses the tension between performative liberalism and traditionalism to create comedic conflict. While the film successfully interrogates patriarchal and familial structures, it remains culturally narrow, focusing on a specific Italian ethnic experience. This limits its racial diversity. Ultimately, the work stands as a meaningful character study that disrupts conventional domestic clichés, despite limited representation across other demographic categories.
