New Showbiz Analysis

Joselito Altarejos delivers a character-driven drama that prioritizes the intimate experiences of underrepresented individuals. The film succeeds by framing systemic victimhood as a complex struggle for ability to act rather than a passive state. The strength of the work lies in its queer-centric narrative and its critique of exploitative capitalist and religious structures. It uses the protagonists' precarious social positions to challenge conventional social hierarchies. However, the film's focus remains narrow, primarily centering on the interpersonal dynamics of the two leads. This limits the breadth of its social critique and leaves the racial and disability dimensions unexplored.
