Naturellement uses a 'fish out of water' comedic structure to critique the rigidity of mainstream social norms. By removing clothing that usually signifies social status and gender, the film deconstructs the performative aspects of Western etiquette. However, the film lacks deep complexity in addressing diverse identities and racial backgrounds. Its impact lies in challenging bodily modesty and social decorum rather than explicit political or identity-based representation.
Category Breakdown
The film removes clothing, breaking down traditional gender and status markers. Though there are no explicit LGBTQ+ stories, the setting encourages a departure from conventional modesty.
By placing a traditional couple in an environment that emphasizes bodily autonomy, the film challenges typical gender roles. Tensions arise as the protagonists navigate identities without usual gender markers.
The film focuses on a culturally homogeneous group in Southern France. There is no indication of significant racial diversity or casting that breaks Eurocentric norms.
The story presents nudism as a valid alternative to standard behavior, challenging conventional social etiquette. It promotes a natural state over traditional decorum.
There is no evidence that disability, neurodivergence, or chronic illness play central roles or drive the narrative in this work.
