Police Destination Oasis offers a moderate level of diversity for an early 1980s exploitation drama. It succeeds by centering female resilience and utilizing a multi-ethnic ensemble of international prisoners. This approach disrupts typical male-centric action clichés and avoids homogeneous casting. However, the film lacks depth in other areas, such as LGBTQ+ identities and disability representation. While the global setting provides racial variety, the narrative remains largely tied to the survivalist clichés of its genre. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its subversion of passive female roles and its broad, international character scope.
