Goosebumps is a conventional genre piece designed for broad appeal. It relies on established storytelling structures that prioritize a traditional hero's journey over social disruption. While the film avoids overt misogyny and harmful stereotypes, it lacks the intentionality needed to provide nuanced or characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity. The narrative reinforces existing social hierarchies without challenging them.
