New Showbiz Analysis

Hit by Lightning is a dark comedy that prioritizes genre-bending plot twists over social commentary. While it avoids some romantic comedy clichés by giving the female lead a significant role in driving the story, the film remains largely conventional in its social makeup. The narrative lacks depth in reflecting multiple aspects of identity, focusing instead on the individualistic and ethically complex struggles of its main characters. It functions more as a character study of social dysfunction than a tool for systemic critique. Ultimately, the film operates within traditional boundaries, offering little in the way of diverse representation or narrative subversion.
