The Touch is primarily a psychological thriller that delves into the breakdown of the domestic sphere. It successfully disrupts the idealized family clichés common in older regional cinema by showcasing a dark, fractured reality. However, the film lacks a broader representation of diverse backgrounds and multi-layered casting. The narrative remains focused on a localized tragedy without challenging social hierarchies or diverse casting patterns. Overall, the film's emphasis on individual psychological trauma and adherence to traditional genre conventions limits its potential for promoting progressive social change.
