AI Analysis
Abject is a psychological horror film that focuses heavily on the disintegration of a traditional nuclear family. The narrative relies on the internal trauma of a grieving couple to drive its tension, utilizing tropes of alcoholism and psychological visions. While the film offers a study of how grief affects different genders, it lacks broader intersectional depth. The story remains confined to a heteronormative, domestic framework that does not challenge systemic social structures. Ultimately, the film prioritizes individual psychological erosion over diverse representation. It adheres to conventional genre tropes, leaving significant gaps in racial, LGBTQ+, and disability-centric agency.
