New Showbiz Analysis

Amityville Thanksgiving functions as a traditional genre piece that emphasizes psychological tension over social critique. The narrative centers on the breakdown of a specific marriage, using well-known horror clichés such as an isolated cabin and a menacing authority figure. Although the film disrupts the idealized American holiday tradition by replacing family dinners with therapy sessions, it lacks complexity in addressing multiple aspects of identity. The conflict remains personal and individualistic, rather than exploring broader identity-based or systemic themes. Ultimately, the film adheres to conventional domestic drama structures. Without evidence of diverse casting or non-traditional identity explorations, it serves as a typical entry within the Amityville franchise.

Official Synopsis

Jackie and Danny are spending the holiday week in therapy instead of at the dinner table. Their marriage has taken a turn for the worst, and they turn to what they believe to be their only option, Amityville Couples Counselor Frank Domonico, a doctor with a hidden, sinister past. He recommends an isolated cabin retreat to save their family. But once alone together, the doctor’s unorthodox approach starts to push the couple over the edge.
