It is evening. Tarek is seventeen years old and is on his way to see his friends, who have asked him on the telephone to pass by the park first and buy a few grams of dope: nothing much, just enough for some fun. The boy buys the stuff in the dark park, but when he emerges finds that someone has seen him: a policeman in plain clothes, sitting in his own car. The man could simply confiscate the hash, intimidate him a little and then let him go, or he could decide to take him to the station and call his parents. But he opts for neither of these things. He tells the young man to get in the car and starts the engine. Where does he want to take him? The policeman is ambiguous, mysterious. What does he want from the teenager? Tarek is in check, he can’t just leave. The policeman makes him stay with him the whole night, driving around in apparently aimless fashion, stopping first in one place, then in another.

Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film lacks explicit depictions of LGBTQ+ characters or non-cisnormative identities. The narrative focuses almost entirely on the power struggle between two male figures.
Gender Representation
The story centers on a male-dominated conflict, which limits the exploration of gendered power hierarchies. It subverts masculine archetypes by portraying authority as a source of instability.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
By centering on Tarek, a character suggesting a non-Anglo-Saxon background, the film moves away from homogeneous casting. It explores the tension of marginalized individuals interacting with state authority.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The film critiques the reliability of state institutions by portraying the policeman as an ambiguous, non-standard actor. This deconstructs the traditional trope of the protector.
Disability Representation
There is no evidence of characters with physical, neurodivergent, or mental health disabilities within the narrative.

AI Analysis
Ghost Night is a character-driven thriller that finds its strength in the subversion of institutional trust. The film moves away from traditional moral clarity, instead focusing on the psychological tension between a teenager and a mysterious authority figure. While the film lacks representation for LGBTQ+ and disabled communities, it offers a nuanced look at racialized agency. The protagonist's encounter with the state provides a critique of systemic reliability and traditional power structures. Ultimately, the film succeeds as a study of moral relativism, though its narrow focus on a male-centric conflict limits its broader social breadth.
