Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film adheres to traditional heteronormative structures. The narrative focuses on the relationship between Luigi and Amélie, with no evidence of same-sex intimacy or non-cisnormative identities.
Gender Representation
While male and female characters are balanced, the plot is driven by the psychological friction between male leads. Women like Amélie and Anne are integral but often orbit male conflicts.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The ensemble reflects a homogeneous European demographic typical of the South of France. The cast is primarily white, and the story does not engage with racial or ethnic diversity.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The story operates within a secular, Western European framework. It explores individual morality and guilt rather than critiquing Western institutions like capitalism or the family unit.
Disability Representation
There is no representation of physical, sensory, or neurodivergent disabilities. Characters are defined by psychological trauma, but these are used as tension drivers rather than depictions of disability.

AI Analysis
Heat Wave is a character-driven psychological drama that prioritizes atmospheric tension and individual existentialism. The narrative focuses on the personal histories and tragic outcomes of a small group of characters in the South of France. The film lacks intersectional representation, functioning instead as a study of human frailty within a conventional social context. It does not seek to subvert demographic norms or engage with systemic critiques. Because the story is rooted in a specific regional setting, the lack of diversity feels like a reflection of its environment rather than a deliberate attempt at exclusion.
