New Showbiz Analysis

Aatma functions as a classic supernatural thriller that prioritizes genre clichés and atmospheric horror over social commentary. The narrative structure is built around traditional hierarchies and a standard struggle between good and evil. The film lacks depth in representing diverse identities, focusing instead on a narrow focus on straight relationships and localized cultural motifs. While it provides regional representation, it does not attempt to challenge existing social or gendered power structures. Ultimately, the work adheres to established genre conventions, offering a visceral experience that avoids progressive social exploration or the deconstruction of traditional identities.
