While it provides a culturally specific Mexican perspective, the narrative structure remains largely conventional. The film's strength lies in its portrayal of the spirit as a victim of historical religious oppression, offering a subtle critique of institutional violence. However, the narrative relies on traditional family dynamics and gender roles, limiting its progressive impact.
