New Showbiz Analysis

The film is a localized, character-driven drama focused on mentorship and personal history. Its main strength lies in its cultural origin, providing a perspective outside the Western mainstream. However, the narrative appears limited in its social scope. The focus on a male-to-male mentorship dynamic leaves significant gaps in gender and LGBTQ+ representation. Without evidence of disability inclusion or diverse casting, the film remains a specific, culturally grounded study rather than a broad exploration of systemic social hierarchies.

Official Synopsis

What a Turkish lecturer from abroad will teach university students will not be limited to the school curriculum. Yet this new teacher is unassuming; he begins his first lesson by saying, “No one here needs this lesson.” However, when the students—and especially one of them—notice him, a whole new world opens up before them. As Ulaş learns about Saffet Hoca’s past, his life strangely intersects with Saffet Hoca’s.
