New Showbiz Analysis

Alma succeeds as a character study by centering neurodivergence through a nuanced lens. By focusing on the protagonist's psychological autonomy, the film avoids common clichés that sanitize mental health struggles. However, the film remains socially narrow. The setting is a homogeneous, affluent Buenos Aires environment that lacks racial or ethnic diversity. The narrative is also strictly oriented toward traditional relationships, focusing on a conventional marital bond. Ultimately, while the film provides a sophisticated look at mental health, it lacks broader systemic or multi-layered expansion.
