Death Strokes stands out for its cultural positioning, using an absurd narrative to mirror the socio-political realities of Mexico. By focusing on the Mexican experience, the film moves away from Western-centric clichés to address systemic hardships. While the film offers a progressive cultural lens, it lacks depth in specific identity representations. The gender dynamics show promise through Rosa's ability to act, but the narrative remains primarily focused on a heterosexual relationship. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its allegorical intent, engaging with the complexities of survival and societal dysfunction.
