Eye, the Sky presents a grounded perspective on domestic survival in the Australian outback. By focusing on a matriarchal household, the film successfully challenges traditional gender hierarchies and explores the challenges of caregiving. The inclusion of a paralyzed father provides a realistic portrayal of how physical disability affects a family's daily life. This focus on systemic hardship adds a layer of social commentary to the drama. However, the film's impact is limited by a lack of visible racial diversity or LGBTQ+ representation. The narrative remains centered on socio-economic struggles within a specific, yet ethnically undefined, domestic unit.
