Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Minimal

The film focuses strictly on clinical and systemic microbiology. There are no LGBTQ+ characters or narratives exploring non-heteronormative identities.

Gender Representation

Fair

The documentary maintains a neutral stance on gender. It avoids reinforcing gendered leadership tropes by prioritizing scientific data and institutional processes over character-driven narratives.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Fair

The narrative addresses a global crisis, implying a perspective that transcends Anglo-centric medical stories. However, it lacks high-agency character dynamics or specific demographic breakdowns.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Good

The film critiques Western institutional frameworks and industrial capitalism. It frames the antibiotic crisis as a consequence of systemic mismanagement rather than traditional institutional stability.

Disability Representation

Minimal

There is no evidence of neurodivergence, physical disability, or chronic illness being used as central narrative drivers or character arcs.

Strengths

  • The film adopts a global perspective that transcends narrow, Anglo-centric medical narratives.
  • It provides a systemic critique of Western industrial and pharmaceutical frameworks.

Areas for Improvement

  • The documentary lacks human-centric representation and character-driven identity narratives.
  • It does not engage with social semiotics regarding gender, orientation, or disability.

AI Analysis

Resistance functions as a scientific and historical investigation into the global crisis of antibiotic resistance. Because it is a documentary centered on microbiology and systemic failures, it does not engage with the social semiotics of identity, gender, or orientation. The film's architecture is built around global health data and pharmaceutical practices rather than human-centric character arcs. This focus makes traditional metrics of representation, such as romantic subplots or gendered hierarchies, largely inapplicable to the work. While the film lacks social identity representation, it offers a systemic critique of Western medical and industrial institutions. The score reflects this tension between a lack of personal identity narratives and a broad, globalized subject matter.
