Querô is a gritty social realism film that stands out due to its authentic, non-white-centric casting. By focusing on Afro-Brazilian identities, it disrupts traditional cinematic clichés and empowers characters of color in a systemic struggle. However, the film lacks depth in representing LGBTQ+ identities and neurodivergent experiences. Additionally, female characters are often defined by their proximity to tragedy or sex work, limiting their visibility. Overall, the film's strength lies in its post-colonial critique of systemic inequality and corrupt institutions.
