This film is a conventional psychological thriller that relies heavily on established clichés. While it centers on a female lead, it lacks the depth needed for a higher score. The film gives its protagonist ability to act through her supernatural perception, which helps her avoid common victimhood clichés. However, the production remains largely homogeneous, with a lack of diverse casting and a focus on traditional, narrow boundaries.
Category Breakdown
The film does not include any visible LGBTQ+ characters or stories. The interpersonal relationships focus on traditional friendships and family bonds without addressing queer identities.
Rachel is a central female character with significant influence over the plot. Her unique gift drives the story forward, even though the film uses typical thriller elements.
The story unfolds within a relatively homogeneous society. There is no indication of a diverse or non-Anglo-Saxon majority cast.
The film adheres to a traditional, binary approach to morality. It lacks significant anti-Western or anti-institutional themes, focusing instead on individual survival.
Rachel's ability to see spirits is a sensory-based experience. She uses this perception to navigate danger rather than being a passive victim.
