Safe House stands out for its refusal to adopt a Western-centric perspective on global conflict. By centering the narrative in the Central African Republic and utilizing a diverse, non-white majority cast, the film provides a sophisticated look at the overlapping aspects of identity and humanitarian ethics. The film successfully challenges genre clichés by placing a woman in a position of high-stakes security leadership. This choice provides a nuanced exploration of her role and influence in a crisis. While the film excels in its exploration of racial and cultural complexity, it remains neutral regarding LGBTQ+ identities and does not specifically address long-term disability representation.

The production avoids a Western-centric lens by centering a conflict in the Central African Republic. A diverse ensemble drives the plot, exploring racial and religious identity through a non-white majority cast.
The narrative critiques religious authority by framing the conflict through a persecuted minority facing a Christian militia. It prioritizes secular humanitarianism over singular religious dogma during a tense Christmas Eve setting.
The setting of a field hospital involves acute wartime injuries. However, there is no specific evidence regarding the portrayal of permanent or neurodivergent disabilities.
