Diversity & Representation

Overall Score

2.1/10

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Minimal

The film lacks explicit mention of LGBTQ+ characters or non-cisnormative identities. There is no evidence of queer narratives or same-sex intimacy within the story.

Gender Representation

Fair

The plot centers on a male-coded quest for a lost love, following traditional protagonist archetypes. While the horror-comedy genre may subvert masculine competence, female agency remains unverified.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Minimal

The narrative provides no information regarding the racial or ethnic composition of the cast. There is no evidence of diverse casting or non-white majority ensembles.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Fair

The film offers a critique of power through its depiction of a ruthless, agenda-driven corporation. This framing suggests themes of anti-capitalism and institutional corruption.

Disability Representation

Minimal

The zombie protagonists represent a state of physical non-viability, but this does not translate to a nuanced exploration of disability. There is no evidence of a critique regarding normalcy.

Strengths

  • The film engages in institutional critique by framing a ruthless company as a central antagonist.
  • The narrative explores themes of anti-capitalism and the corruption of power structures.

Areas for Improvement

  • The film lacks visible representation of racial, ethnic, or LGBTQ+ identities.
  • The central plot follows conventional male-coded archetypes without clear subversion of gender hierarchies.
  • The zombie condition is used for genre purposes rather than exploring disability or societal normalcy.

AI Analysis

DeadHeads operates primarily within the established tropes of the horror-comedy genre. The narrative focuses on a personal road trip and a struggle against a corrupt corporate entity, prioritizing genre-driven adventure over systemic social commentary. While the film touches on anti-corporate themes, it lacks verifiable evidence of intersectional representation. The absence of clear data regarding racial, gender, or LGBTQ+ diversity results in a low cumulative score. The protagonists' status as zombies provides a unique physical condition, yet the film does not appear to use this state to meaningfully engage with disability or neurodivergence.
