Fette Welt succeeds as a piece of social realism, placing underrepresented individuals at the forefront. It effectively critiques traditional Western stability by focusing on those living on the periphery of society. However, the film lacks explicit markers of LGBTQ+ presence and racial diversity. The narrative's focus remains heavily tied to socio-economic status and class-based struggles. Ultimately, the work finds its strength in its rejection of mainstream societal milestones, though it offers limited representation for specific identity groups.
Category Breakdown
The story centers around a romantic relationship between Hagen and Julia. There is no indication of queer themes or non-cisgender identities in the narrative.
The film challenges traditional gender roles by focusing on a group of runaways. Julia's role as a runaway girl subverts the typical domestic anchor for women.
The narrative focuses on a specific urban subculture in Munich. The story seems driven by socio-economic factors rather than a diverse mix of ethnicities.
The film provides a progressive critique of Western capitalist systems. It highlights the lived experiences of those outside formal institutional structures.
Characters face extreme instability and drug dependency. However, there is no indication of characters with recognized disabilities having specific ability to act.

Official Synopsis
They kiss and they fight, they love and they kill each other: Hagen Trinker and the others, bums and junkies, men and women. They live in Munich, under the bridge, in the shell of a building. Sometimes an armchair is their home, sometimes a newspaper is their mattress. But mostly they are on the move anyway, on the street, in shopping arcades, at the train station - without a destination and without illusions. Then Julia joins them, 15 years old, who has run away from home - a princess, as one of the clique says. Hagen falls in love with her. A fairy tale begins, and the next moment it is already over. But now Hagen is ready to fight once more: he simply has to find Judith again...
