Don’t Forget Me is a character-driven drama that excels in portraying the complexities of mental health struggles. By focusing on eating disorders and neurodivergent social challenges, the film highlights the internal battles of its characters. However, the film lacks explicit markers of LGBTQ+ representation and racial diversity. While it effectively explores neurodivergence and the rejection of social norms, it remains a narrow study of individual psychological experience.
Category Breakdown
The film does not explicitly depict LGBTQ+ identities or relationships that go beyond straight and cisgender norms. However, the theme of escaping social norms hints at queer sensibilities.
Tom’s journey focuses on his struggle with mental health and bodily autonomy rather than traditional feminine roles. The narrative emphasizes the complexity of mental health recovery over conventional beauty standards or domestic roles.
Specific details regarding the ethnic composition of the cast are unavailable. The score remains neutral, reflecting a standard dramatic ensemble without explicit evidence of a diverse or non-Anglo-Saxon majority.
The film critiques mainstream societal expectations by presenting them as something to be escaped. It prioritizes individual experiences over rigid, socially accepted structures and milestones.
The story offers a nuanced portrayal of invisible disabilities such as eating disorders and neurodivergence. These conditions play a key role in driving the plot and emotional development.

Official Synopsis
Tom, who suffers from an eating disorder and is recovered in a clinic, has gotten her menstrual cycle back. When the doctor tells her it’s a good sign because it means her condition is improving, she panics: the idea of gaining back the kilos she lost scares her to death. It seems like a day to forget but when she meets Neil, a trombone player with socialization problems, everything changes: the two feel a strong connection that is sealed by their shared desire to escape everything which is considered socially acceptable.
