Lucas Belvaux’s *Just for Laughs* is a sophisticated exploration of interpersonal instability. Using a multi-perspective structure, the film dismantles the concept of the stable romantic unit, replacing traditional monogamous expectations with a framework of moral relativism. The film challenges the sanctity of Western relationship models by centering on covert affairs and the breakdown of established partnerships. It excels at subverting traditional gender roles and domestic structures, but remains limited by a lack of racial diversity and explicit LGBTQ+ storylines.
