The film stands out for its psychological depth, particularly in its portrayal of mental health and the subversion of traditional gender roles. It handles neurodivergence with respect, focusing on the protagonist's unique perspective rather than using her condition as a plot device. However, the film lacks demographic diversity. The cast is primarily homogeneous, and the narrative does not explore significant LGBTQ+ identities or racial diversity, staying within a specific European context. Overall, the film prioritizes a deep, stylized exploration of human connection and institutional critique over broad representation.

The narrative critiques Western medical and social institutions by presenting the protagonist's struggle against authority as a necessary psychological response. It highlights fate over structured social progress.
