The Devil's Arithmetic is a powerful film that centers underrepresented voices within a devastating historical context. It excels by highlighting women's ability to drive the story and the reclamation of Jewish ethnic identity. The film uses a temporal shift to bridge modern secularism with ancestral history, offering a sophisticated look at identity under extreme systemic pressure. However, it lacks explicit LGBTQ+ themes and does not feature characters whose identities are defined by disability.
