New Showbiz Analysis

Daphne is a character-driven film that emphasizes women's ability to drive the story and autonomy. By focusing on a woman's internal shifts and high-stakes decisions, the film avoids common clichés of female passivity. However, the film’s diversity is largely suggested by its urban setting rather than explicitly demonstrated through casting. While the nightlife backdrop implies a diverse social landscape, the lack of specific details regarding racial, religious, or LGBTQ+ identities limits the narrative's proven inclusiveness. Ultimately, the film succeeds as a psychological exploration of personal identity, even if it lacks overt representation of multiple aspects of diversity.
