New Showbiz Analysis

Buns is a genre-driven comedy that highlights female empowerment. By following Tanya's journey from a domestic baker to an international adventurer, the film challenges traditional passive female roles and emphasizes personal growth. However, the film lacks depth in representing diverse identities and social complexities. While the shift to a Sri Lankan setting introduces cross-cultural dynamics, the absence of LGBTQ+ representation and disability inclusion limits its diversity.
