New Showbiz Analysis

Icarus is a localized, psychological drama that prioritizes internal human ambition over social representation. The narrative focuses on the obsessive relationship between an inventor and a young boy, Joseph. The film functions as a character-driven fable set against a remote, naturalistic backdrop. It avoids overt social or identity-based conflicts in favor of exploring themes of isolation and impossible dreams. Ultimately, the work does not intentionally engage with identity politics or the deconstruction of systemic hierarchies, opting instead for a singular, dream-driven arc.

Official Synopsis

On a tiny island encircled by steep cliffs, a unique house stands alone facing the sea. Obsessed by the dream that, one day, man may be able to fly just like a bird, an inventor experiments with machines on this abandoned piece of land. For this man, only a pure, light and naive soul is capable of such a feat. Recruited from the continent, 11-year-old Joseph seems to be the perfect candidate.
