Hannibal: A March on Rome is a historical documentary centered on ancient military logistics. Given its focus on the Carthaginian campaign against Rome, the narrative is naturally dominated by male leadership and ancient power structures. The film's strength lies in its ability to present a non-Western perspective by centering the North African Carthaginian Empire as the primary protagonist. This provides a necessary break from purely Greco-Roman historical narratives. However, the documentary lacks modern characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity due to its ancient setting, which limits the inclusion of diverse identities.
