The film serves as a character-focused critique of nostalgic storytelling. Instead of a traditional coming-of-age tale, it delves into the exploitative nature of shared trauma. While the film avoids direct identity politics, it challenges traditional social cohesion. Diversity is present through a varied cast and rejection of conventional moral certainty. However, the lack of specific representations of disabilities and clear definitions of queer identities limits a higher score.
