New Showbiz Analysis

Isabelle is a character-driven drama that emphasizes the professional and intellectual achievements of its female lead. By focusing on an astronomer, the film steers clear of typical domestic clichés and highlights female empowerment in a specialized field. However, the film adheres to a conventional dramatic structure. It lacks explicit representation of diverse racial backgrounds or LGBTQ+ identities, and it focuses on personal ethics rather than broader sociopolitical issues. The narrative primarily centers on a homogeneous Western European experience.
