Score Reasoning

Shadows & Lies follows a traditional dramatic structure centered on a male protagonist's rescue mission. The narrative relies heavily on established genre tropes, such as the crime syndicate and the romantic hero archetype, which limits its progressive impact. The film lacks explicit evidence of diverse identity-driven storytelling. While the New York City setting offers potential for urban variety, the characters are defined more by their roles in a rescue plot than by specific cultural or ethnic markers. Ultimately, the film adheres to conventional social hierarchies. The focus remains on a standard romantic and action-oriented framework rather than subverting systemic norms or exploring intersectional perspectives.
