AI Analysis

Fletch functions as a postmodern deconstruction of the hardboiled detective genre, prioritizing the subversion of professional archetypes over social hierarchies. While it successfully challenges the 'serious detective' trope through Chevy Chase's irreverent wit, the film remains tethered to the demographic constraints of its era. The narrative celebrates a protagonist who operates outside traditional authority and conventional morality. However, this individualistic focus comes at the expense of intersectional depth, resulting in a largely monolithic social environment. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its genre parody and its celebration of situational ethics, even as it fails to provide meaningful representation across most identity categories.
