Big Deal is a socio-economic drama that uses the 1997 Asian financial crisis to explore the tension between national heritage and global capitalism. The film's strength lies in its ability to transform a business deal into a critique of systemic economic changes. However, the film's representation is heavily focused on a traditional patriarchal structure, with male characters driving the plot. Despite the lack of social diversity in terms of identity, the film provides a rich cultural perspective.
