A German father's soccer-playing son is hit by a car and dies. The father donates the boy's red jacket to charity, where it ends up in war-torn Sarajevo. The boy's parents are killed, and he almost is. Some UN soldiers find him, and send him to a hospital in Germany. He escapes the hospital, is hit by a car (but unhurt). The driver reads the tag inside the jacket and "returns" the boy to the grieving father.

Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film focuses on familial grief and humanitarian crisis. There is no mention of LGBTQ+ characters or narratives addressing non-cisnormative identities.
Gender Representation
The story centers on a paternal figure and his son, leaning toward a traditional family structure. It explores the emotional vulnerability of the father rather than subverting gender hierarchies.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The narrative moves from Germany to the multi-ethnic landscape of Sarajevo. This transition disrupts a purely domestic focus by highlighting the realities of a non-Western conflict zone.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The film connects Western consumer goods to survival in a different geopolitical reality. It uses humanitarian intervention to critique the limitations of institutional protection during wartime.
Disability Representation
There is no evidence regarding the portrayal of physical or neurodivergent disabilities. The child's trauma may imply psychological distress, but this is not explicitly detailed.

AI Analysis
The Red Jacket is a humanitarian drama that uses a symbolic object to bridge the gap between Western domesticity and international conflict. It avoids identity politics in favor of a globalized narrative structure. The film succeeds in expanding its scope beyond a singular, homogeneous Western perspective by incorporating the Bosnian War. This provides a meaningful look at how global stability and instability intersect. However, the film lacks representation for LGBTQ+ identities and does not provide specific details regarding disability or the subversion of traditional gender roles.
