New Showbiz Analysis

The film functions as a standard 1990s psychological thriller, prioritizing genre conventions over diverse storytelling. It focuses on individual survival and the limitations of the legal system rather than challenging social hierarchies. While the protagonist's struggle for control is central, the narrative relies on established clichés, such as the dismissal of female intuition. This keeps the film within the bounds of traditional melodrama. Ultimately, the work lacks the complexity needed for a progressive score, adhering to the era's typical approach to trauma and justice.

Official Synopsis

Twelve years ago, Lacey was raped and had a son as a result. Now her rapist is out on parole, and since he's the father of the child and has shown signs of rehabilitation, he's been granted visitation rights by a judge. Slowly but predictably, Lacey realizes things just aren't right with him, but thanks to her rapists manipulation, everybody she knows thins she's crazy. Meanwhile, her attacker is primed to finish what he started 12 years ago.
