Why Not! operates strictly within the conventions of the mid-2000s Polish romantic comedy. It prioritizes genre-standard beats, such as the pursuit of love and career stability, over the exploration of complex social identities. The narrative focuses on Maggie's transition from the province to Warsaw. While this provides a look at social mobility, it remains rooted in a homogeneous cultural landscape that lacks multi-layered depth. Ultimately, the film reflects the demographic and social norms of its time and place rather than challenging them through diverse representation.
