New Showbiz Analysis

The Alternate is a typical action thriller that emphasizes political manipulation and institutional betrayal over social or identity-based themes. The plot revolves around a CIA black ops team staging a kidnapping to boost presidential approval ratings, which spirals into internal greed. While the film critiques political transparency and the reliability of Western institutions, it lacks depth in representing diverse identities. The narrative focuses on power dynamics within a narrow framework, emphasizing the subversion of political optics over diverse representation. Ultimately, the film operates as a conventional thriller without diverse casting or identity-driven ability to act.
