The film successfully challenges traditional gender hierarchies by placing a woman at the helm of a traditional family business. Rui’s leadership offers a sophisticated departure from patriarchal industrial clichés. However, the narrative remains culturally and identity-specific, offering limited representation for LGBTQ+ individuals or diverse ethnic groups. The focus is strictly on preserving a localized Japanese craft. Ultimately, the work is a nuanced study of female leadership and cultural heritage, though it lacks broader multi-layered diversity.
