Synopsis

The high school senior girls discovered a 'Ghost Hide and Seek' tape recorded by their seniors in the broadcasting club. Through the tape, the girls learned about a rumor that if they win in the ghost hide and seek game on the upcoming school anniversary, they can receive a perfect score on the college entrance exam. The girls decided to recruit Min-joo, a second year student from the religious club, as a mercenary and made a decision to participate together in the ghost hide and seek.

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Fair

The film lacks explicit depictions of same-sex intimacy or non-cisnormative identities. There is no verifiable evidence of queer-coded subtext within the current narrative context.

Gender Representation

Good

Female agency is a central pillar of the story. The plot is driven by high school girls who actively choose to engage in a supernatural ritual to secure their academic futures.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Fair

As a South Korean production, the film operates within a specific regional context. The narrative focuses on localized social hierarchies rather than multi-ethnic casting.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Fair

The story highlights the intense pressure of academic meritocracy. It treats religious affiliation pragmatically, using a religious club member as a functional 'mercenary' for the ritual.

Disability Representation

Minimal

There is no mention of characters with visible or invisible disabilities in the provided narrative.

Strengths

  • Strong female agency as the protagonists drive the plot through active decision-making.
  • Subverts traditional horror tropes by positioning women as architects of their own destiny.
  • Relatable exploration of academic pressure and meritocratic social hierarchies.

Areas for Improvement

  • Lack of explicit LGBTQ+ representation or non-cisnormative identities.
  • Limited evidence of multi-ethnic or racial diversity within the cast.
  • No visible representation of characters with disabilities.

AI Analysis

The film distinguishes itself by centering female protagonists as active decision-makers rather than passive victims. By linking a supernatural horror element to the high-stakes pressure of college entrance exams, the story grounds its genre tropes in a relatable, female-driven pursuit of agency. However, the narrative remains culturally localized and lacks explicit representation of LGBTQ+ identities or multi-ethnic diversity. The focus is tightly wound around specific South Korean social structures, such as school clubs and academic competition. Ultimately, the film offers a moderate progressive shift in horror by replacing traditional masculine-led tropes with a group of goal-oriented young women.
