Fernando Lopes' *Outside* is a character-driven drama that explores the inner emotional lives of its characters. The film excels in portraying the professional and personal growth of its female protagonist while capturing the nuances of modern urban life in Rio de Janeiro. While it steers clear of overt identity politics or systemic critiques, the film offers a realistic portrayal of urban professionals. However, its focus on middle-class life and a heterosexual relationship limits engagement with LGBTQ+ identities, disability, and diverse socioeconomic perspectives.
