New Showbiz Analysis

Amelia’s Children examines identity through a dysfunctional family dynamic. It turns the typical homecoming theme into a horror scenario by positioning the biological family as a source of fear. The film's strength lies in its ability to challenge traditional social structures, such as the family unit and maternal authority. By dismantling the idea of a stable home, it presents a more complex psychological environment compared to conventional horror narratives. However, the film's diversity is constrained by its specific European setting and a lack of clear representation of non-straight relationships or disabilities.
