Sparrows is a contemplative drama that emphasizes detailed character studies over direct discussions of identity. It challenges the stability of the traditional family and capitalist economy, but does not rely heavily on diverse representation. The film shines in its portrayal of how economic instability affects families and communities. However, it lacks the broad range of identities and diverse casting needed for a higher diversity rating. Overall, the film focuses on the quiet struggles of a community facing economic hardship, providing a localized look at displacement.
