Beyond the Copline stands out for its subversion of gendered expectations. By featuring a female officer with significant intellectual and physical capabilities, the film moves away from passive female archetypes common in action cinema. However, the film remains firmly rooted in conventional genre structures. It adheres to traditional social hierarchies and morality, offering limited exploration of diverse social or identity-based issues beyond its regional context. While Carmen is a strong driver of the narrative, the lack of characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity or non-straight relationship themes keeps the overall diversity score moderate.
