A naked woman is found murdered in the Mongolian steppe. Overnight, a young and inexperienced policeman has to secure the crime scene. Since he is not familiar with the dangers on site, a local herder is sent to guard him and the body. This resolute woman in her mid-thirties knows how to handle a rifle – and how to scare away wolves. She lights a fire against the cold. Alcohol also helps them to stay warm. At her instigation, the two get closer to each other. The next morning, they will go their separate ways.

AI Analysis
Egg is a meditative drama that finds its strength in subverting gendered competence. By positioning a seasoned female herder as the protector of a novice policeman, the film disrupts traditional tropes of the male hero. The setting provides a rich, authentic depiction of the Mongolian steppe, offering a layered look at non-urban identities. This regional specificity adds a sense of cultural weight to the existential themes of alienation. However, the film lacks breadth in other intersectional areas. The absence of LGBTQ+ narratives and disability representation limits the overall diversity of the character studies.
