AI Analysis

Staying Alive is a character-driven study that finds its strength in the psychological landscape of its protagonist. By focusing on Marianne's journey from betrayal to autonomy, the film successfully avoids the trap of portraying women solely as victims of circumstance. However, the film lacks intersectional breadth. The narrative remains centered on a narrow demographic, lacking visible LGBTQ+ representation or racial diversity. This creates a somewhat homogeneous viewing experience typical of certain regional independent productions. Ultimately, the film succeeds as a nuanced exploration of mental health and female agency. It trades traditional domestic tropes for a more complex look at individualistic fulfillment and psychological resilience.
