Clayton Pierce is an agent working under deep cover. Although he is a top agent, he is questioning his loyalty after twenty years of service. His devotion has already cost him his wife, family and personal life. During a de-briefing from his last assignment, he is unknowingly administered the drug Oblivion, which destroys brain cells causing permanent memory loss. Within a few days of injection, the drug's effects become irreversible. Clayton will not only lose his memory, he will lose his identity as well. He realizes he can no longer rely on anyone at the agency to help him, not even his boss, Agent LaNova. With nowhere left to go, he appeals to his ex-wife, Kate, for help. Clayton and Kate must locate the antidote before it's too late.

Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film centers on a heteronormative relationship between Clayton and his ex-wife. There is no evidence of same-sex intimacy or non-cisnormative identities.
Gender Representation
The story follows a masculine-led thriller framework. While Kate provides essential help, she primarily functions within a traditional support role for the male protagonist.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The narrative focuses on a singular protagonist and a small social circle. There is no indication of a diverse or non-Anglo-Saxon majority cast.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
Themes of institutional distrust are framed through an individualistic lens. The film emphasizes personal survival over a systemic critique of Western institutions.
Disability Representation
Cognitive impairment from the drug Oblivion serves as a high-stakes plot device. It drives the thriller's tension rather than exploring neurodivergence with nuance.

AI Analysis
Time Lapse operates within a conventional action-thriller template, relying on established genre tropes and traditional character archetypes. The narrative architecture prioritizes a linear, high-stakes plot over intersectional storytelling or the subversion of social hierarchies. The film's focus remains on individualistic survival and personal identity. This approach reinforces standard social structures rather than offering a complex critique of systemic issues or diverse cultural perspectives. Ultimately, the representation is limited to a narrow, Western-centric viewpoint that lacks intentionality in disrupting established norms.
